WHY RELIGION DOES NOT WORK

I was born Into a church that believes in rules. We felt special because we obeyed commands and particularly the one about the day of worship.

I spent the first 20 years of my life being miserable in the house of God. It was same old boring hymns and routines that felt like rituals. I broke away and went for a search that took me to all the orthodox churches in my vicinity and the feeling of drudgery was the same. I gave up on religion and accelerated on my debauchery.

Then His love found me and I found myself walking up to the altar to surrender my life to Jesus.
In all those years I had matured and even become a leader in the Kingdom .

It was when I started preaching across churches in the globe that I discovered those same old feelings. Even Pentecostal churches were beginning to resemble the old church I left and that got me really confused. I thought the Pentecostals had this sorted? Then it occurred to me; any group is in danger of becoming a religious cult , groups are built on certain similarities and fed on suitable narratives.
The consequence of that is that many Pentecostal Churches soon became religious cults inadvertently.

Religion is man’s attempt to serve God and Christianity is God in search of man because of love. Many religious cults stopped being churches ages ago. They have become cults built around human demarcations that shuts itself against outsiders. God stopped being at centre of many churches long time ago.

In order to discover and serve God, check the life of Jesus. He was completely dependent on God’s instructions, He was accessible to all and broke down societal demarcations. He was motivated by love in all he did.

Religion sets you up to fail as it gives bunch of rules nobody can follow and sets boundaries that puts one group against another.

I’m glad I found God and proud to say he’s nothing like many say he is. Simply put, God is love. If love is not evident , God is not in it. Love doesn’t kill others indiscriminately, doesn’t put others down , doesn’t alienate others irrationally, doesn’t think it’s better than others.  If you want to read the rest go to 1 Cor 13.

What I’m trying to say is that religion does not work. Love does .
